Sweet Outing

One other photo that reveals something dear to my heart.  This is my In Focus group formed by the common love of taking photographs.  One of the group sent out an email called Whipped Cream that  encourages women to start each meal with dessert since life is short.  We all met a Wegmens today before the girls game and had dessert for lunch.  The chocolate cake in the foreground is rich and delicious and shows another love of mine--chocolate.   We always meet to photograph and also include a stop for a meal.  Friends mean everything to me.

Pink Players

This afternoon my husband and I were at the Lady Lions game, and they had a twenty point lead.  They played fantastic in the first half, but ending up losing the game.  I felt really bad for them, but it makes me wonder what the real issue is.  Today the whole place was pink.  The players, fans, and most important, the cancer survivors were dressed in pink.  It is very inspiring to see how we are making progress fighting cancer.

Super fans

This is a picture of my husband and me attending the PSU men's basketball game yesterday.  We go to many Penn State sporting events.  Yesterday the guys beat Minnesota 68-63.  It was a fun game with a large enthusiastic crowd.

My Space

This is our basement and the place that my husband and  I spend most of our time.  This is the view from my recliner.

Impressionistic Me

This is a self portrait that was difficult to do.  I took it through a piece of shower glass but it had to be cropped dramatically.  Pretty interesting.

One great love...tennis

On Wednesday morning, when I played tennis up at the PSU Tennis Center, I decided to take a self portrait of myself.  I put the camera on another chair and set the timer and got in position.  Tennis is one of my favorite things to do so I thought it was representative of me.

Odd results

I got the brilliant idea of putting some color in the decanter to get more play of color and thought of M & M's.  Then I thought, what if the M & M's get stuck in the bottom of the bottle?  It was also still wet.  Then I chose to put them under the top of the decanter and zoomed in as close as I could.  It wasn't enough so I had to crop it quite a bit.  I'm not wild about it, but the process was fun.  I am glad that we had this assignment because it challenged me to see one object in different ways.

Reflections

Here I wanted to capture the reflections on the table.

Changing colors

Yesterday I got rid of the tequila (that was fun!) and decided to add some red wine to the decanter.  I held it up to the window and shot through the bottom.  I thought this looked like a good shot for a Valentine's Day card.  I like to make cards for my friends and family, using my photographs.

Night time

The other night I decided to photograph the decanter at night and used candlelight to light it.  The tones are more subtle.

Now we are talking!

I was happy with this photo.  Getting in close makes for a much more interesting photo.  You can see some detail in the design and the light is quite active.  This is fun!

Still life

Here I added liquor into the decanter.  This is the first time that I have put anything in it.  I could only find some tequila; it turns out that I don't have much around.  We have mostly beer and wine available.  This is a more posed shot, but I was not happy with it.  I put a black backdrop behind it, and it is quite boring.  I need to push myself more.

Crystal Reflections

As I was looking around my house trying to pick something to photograph this week for our blogging assignment, my eye was attracted to this crystal decanter.  I have a collection of crystal items because I enjoy the play of the light on a piece of crystal.  Here it is as it looks on my buffet in the dining room.  This is a straight record shot and I hope to build on it by being more creative each time.  I took it on Thursday but never got around to posting until today.
